Rule 240, Here I Come

Know Your Tribe

My company is the proud publisher of many great brands.  Those of us who work with the brands extensively know that brand management is a world unto itself.

I keep running into this ad on one of my favorite blogs, and it keeps catching my attention.  Not because it’s bedazzling in any manner, but because of the triple-threat it’s advertising: Apple, Dell, and HP.

A cool article from The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon, a small community which is home to several of our authors: Jim Schell, Bill Chiaravalle, Suzanne Schlosberg, Dirk Zeller, and Barbara Findlay Schenck.
Some highlights, and insight into the For Dummies brand, from the article:
‘… Deschutes County’s concentration of “Dummies” authors is about 8.6 times higher than the [...]

If either or both of these oh-so-bold (-generic, -flippant, - ignorant, , -inflammatory, -statistically untrue) comments are true, then why are Amazon.com, Penguin Group, and HP bothering with this contest?

Nice collaboration and co-marketing by Amazon, Penguin Group, and Hewlett-Packard, and a bright opportunity for authors.

Quick question for Amazon: Isn’t the word Kindle a bit too [...]

What does a site have to do to increase its number of hits by 31,689%?
Or, what causes a site to lose 90%
Compete’s “Fastest Moving Sites” provides a look at the sites who gained, or lost, the most hits in 2007.
http://blog.compete.com/2008/01/17/2006-vs-2007-top-moving-sites/

I think I’ll be geeking out on Compete a lot in the future.  Here goes my [...]

Check out his acceptance speech of a Crunchie Award, on behalf of Real Steve Jobs and Apple.  The language is NSFW.  But hilarious.   Based on this 4-minute clip alone, I’m now an admirer.

You can find a recap of the Crunchie Award winners here.  Take a few minutes to check out the nominees and winners.  I [...]
