Today it was announced, kinda, that Borders will reduce inventory by 5-10%…more books will be positioned “face-out” as we call it in the book publishing industry.  This will absolutely ruffle the feathers of book publishers.  Borders is one of The Big Three for publishers, along with Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Now, a few things, most [...]

Looks like Wiley Indy will soon have company.
There’s long been a stretch of relatively untouched land right across the street from Wiley’s Indianapolis office here on Crosspoint Boulevard.  We even have a spot of woods between us and Interstate 69.  It appears the Town of Fishers has found a new use for this land.

A cool article from The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon, a small community which is home to several of our authors: Jim Schell, Bill Chiaravalle, Suzanne Schlosberg, Dirk Zeller, and Barbara Findlay Schenck.
Some highlights, and insight into the For Dummies brand, from the article:
‘… Deschutes County’s concentration of “Dummies” authors is about 8.6 times higher than the [...]

If either or both of these oh-so-bold (-generic, -flippant, - ignorant, , -inflammatory, -statistically untrue) comments are true, then why are Amazon.com, Penguin Group, and HP bothering with this contest?

Nice collaboration and co-marketing by Amazon, Penguin Group, and Hewlett-Packard, and a bright opportunity for authors.

Quick question for Amazon: Isn’t the word Kindle a bit too [...]

Publishers Weekly recently ran the headline Chains, Internet Dominate Bookselling. I clicked over, not expecting this to be news to me.  We (book publishing people) all know that Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Borders are our 3 big fish.  We love them, they love us.
The first thing I learned was that Bowker launched a new [...]
