In what might be the first of my blog requests to actually come true, Starbucks has set its Wi-Fi free.
All you have to do is buy a reloadable Starbucks card and register it at Starbucks.com. Voila…you get up to two hours of consecutive free Wi-Fi daily at Starbucks stores, via AT&T. No catch (that I [...]

Could Disappearing Ink Catch On?
Posted in Ideas, tagged Business, Green, Ideas, Recycling, Xerox on May 19, 2008 | No Comments »
It sounds like a bad gag straight out of a magician’s act, but disappearing ink suddenly has a future. Xerox is experimenting with a type of paper on which ink disappears after a while, making the paper re-usable. This of course would cut down on paper waste, ink, and the energy needed to print documents. [...]
When Competition = Opportunity

I recently posted about Amazon’s 10-K listing publishers (and just about everyone else) as potential competitors. A colleague whose opinion I admire greatly commented on that post elsewhere, and those comments gave me a second wind of thought.
See, Amazon is right on in looking at even their own vendors and partners as competitors. (I just [...]
That Didn’t Take Long: iTunes Now #1
Posted in Apple, Digital music, Music, tagged Amazon, Ideas, iTunes, Music, Wal-Mart on April 3, 2008 | 1 Comment »
On February 26th iTunes moved into 2nd amongst music retailers. And I said this:
“(Behind Wal-Mart. Which sucks, because I’m ready for iTunes to be #1. Wal-Mart carries a crappy, streamlined, force-fed selection of music appropriate only for fans of top 40, pop, and country-western music. No, no, and no.) iTunes will pass Wal-Mart eventually.”
Welp, now [...]

I mostly agree about Apple, I completely agree about Google, and I agree while shaking my head and getting a little depressed about My Company’s App. It’s just not that hard to be simple, folks.
Based on how dead-on this comic alone is, I’ll be paying more attention to Eric Burke’s comics. Good stuff, Eric.

Looks like Wiley Indy will soon have company.
There’s long been a stretch of relatively untouched land right across the street from Wiley’s Indianapolis office here on Crosspoint Boulevard. We even have a spot of woods between us and Interstate 69. It appears the Town of Fishers has found a new use for this land.
A little background.
First, [...]
Wal-Mart Buyers Blog! Honestly!

I just gained a brand new respect for Wal-Mart. This New York Times article nearly knocked me out of my chair.
Wal-Mart buyers (aka merchants, aka merchandise managers) are openly blogging. They are encouraged to do so. They are blogging not only about their personal lives but about the products they choose for resale in Wal-Mart [...]

It’s one thing for a company to create really good products and services. It’s another to make insane amounts of money off of them. It’s yet another to consistently be named the best or most innovative company to work.
But to go out of your way to give to others is a very special thing. This is [...]
